Doris Theda Alsdorf

October 2, 1928 — August 17, 2014

Doris went to rest at her home on Sunday, August 17, 2014 after a long illness with her loving family by her side. Doris was born October 2, 1928 to the late Everett "Pete" Terwilliger and the late Laura Terwilliger Brady in Wallkill, NY. Doris worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY in Labor and Delivery and ICU for many years as a nurse. After retiring from St. Luke's, Doris worked at Pennings Rose Acres Greenhouse in Salisbury Mills, NY. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren baking cakes and making homemade bread for all to enjoy. Doris always knew when someone needed her help and she would just show up with a banana chiffon cake to help ease your troubles. Doris was a guardian angel for many people, her door was always open to any and all who needed assistance. She always welcomed people into her heart and into her home without judgment. Doris was "Nana" to everyone. Until we meet again Mom, love you always and forever. On September 1, 1946 Doris married the love of her life, her husband Joseph A. Alsdorf, Sr. in Ellenville, New York. Together they had 8 children and 2 adopted children. Doris was the beloved mother of JoAnn Butler; Joseph Alsdorf, Jr. and his wife Patricia; Donna Nixon and her husband Edward; Darlene Lorenzen and her companion Paul Morris; Guy Alsdorf; Wayne Alsdorf and his wife Cecelia; Shryl Norris and her husband Terry; Michelle Alsdorf Culliton; Louie Keel and Dave Cuccias. Doris is survived by her siblings Bernice Alsdorf; Patricia Reach; Dottie Forman and her husband Kenny; Barbara Williams and Dennis Terwilliger and her sister in law Sarah Storms as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her heart felt children Wayne and Kim Orndorff and Tom and Linda Lyons. Doris was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Alsdorf, Sr. Doris was also predeceased by her brothers, Everett; Russell "Bucky" and Frederick Terwilliger.
