Aldo G. Guerra

Aldo G. Guerra, of Chester, NY, died peacefully on May 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old. Aldo was born in September of 1938 in Bronx, NY, to the late Alda Guerra GiglioTos and Dante Guerra, and was the step-son of the late Luigi GiglioTos. A resident of Chester for 12 years, Aldo lived in New Milford, NJ, for 42 years, and Marco Island, FL, for 20 years prior to moving to Chester. Aldo was the proud owner and operator of Ideal Service, Inc. in River Edge, NJ, from 1962-1986 before his son Vincent took over the family business. Aldo was also a member of the New Jersey Gasoline Retailer's Association, as well as a member of the Monte Cristo Rod and Gun Club where he was affectionately known as "El Presidente." Aldo was an avid hunter and fisherman who passed his love for both sports on to his son and grandchildren. He loved playing golf, bocce, and was a gourmet cook and wood carver. A kind, caring, and generous man, Aldo lived for his wife and children. He went by several nicknames including Fonz, Boyfriend, Mr. Mutz, and the sweetest of all was Dad and Pops. He adored his family and lived for time spent with his grandchildren. Aldo lived life to the fullest, and never wasted an opportunity to make everyone feel loved. Aldo is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Gerry. His son Vincent (Laurie) Guerra of Upper Saddle River, NJ; his daughter Mary Lynn (Fernando) Da Cruz of New Milford, NJ, Bonnie (Erich) Obojkovits of Sloatsburg, NY, Eileen (Thomas) Hennessy of New Milford, NJ; the loves of his life, his grandchildren Paul, Ronald, Emily, Katie, Erich, Vincent, Jonathan, Jessica, and Emma; his great-granddaughter Amia; his brother Dante Guerra of NC; as well as several sister in laws, brother in laws, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021, during the hours of 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY, 10950. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM in St. Columba R.C. Church located at 27 High Street, Chester, NY, 10918. Cremation will follow at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., in Chester, NY.
