Arthur Schempp

March 15, 1937 — August 1, 2022

Arthur Schempp Jr., 85 years of age, of Mahwah, NJ, fell asleep in Christ on Monday, August 1, 2022. Born March 15, 1937, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Arthur Schempp Sr. and Doris Ione (Gill) Schempp.
Arthur was a well-respected, dedicated teacher and coach in the Mahwah school system for almost 30 years.
He loved his students and enjoyed watching them grow up and pursue their dreams. In his spare time, Arthur enjoyed golfing, sports, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his family vacations in Lake George, NY.
He will forever be remembered for his kind, generous, loving, and optimistic heart, infectious laugh and smile, and love of life and his family. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Jean (Ferguson) Schempp; his loving brother Warren Christian Schempp; and three children, Debra Franzino and her husband Gregory, Scott Schempp, Stephanie Steinsdorfer and her husband, Robert.
He is beloved by his five grandchildren: April Franzino, Gina Viola, Jamie Franzino, Anthony Franzino, and Brett Steinsdorfer, as well as three great-grandchildren, Liana Viola, and Marcella Viola, and Rayna Viola. Arthur also has two loving nieces, Elizabeth Hampton and Kristin Pacelli. Private memorial services will be held in September with the family, where his ashes will be placed alongside his parents and grandmother in Lake George, NY.
