Christopher Keller Furey

February 2, 1981 — June 2, 2016

Christopher Keller Furey February 2, 1981 - June 2, 2016 Our beloved son was taken from us on Thursday, June 2 and is now peacefully in the kingdom of Heaven - he was only thirty-five years of age. Our hearts tell us that he is shrouded in the embrace of his God, his four Grandparents, Catherine & George Keller, Lillian and Joseph Furey, and his two older siblings who went to spend eternity with their maker before we had the opportunity to know them. Christopher spent his entire life in Chester. He attended St. Columba grade school through fourth grade at which time it closed. He then attended St. Joseph's grade school in Florida, NY. His High School years were spent at the Chester school. During his younger years, he made a number of childhood friends with whom he has maintained contact with over the years. Despite only attending college for a brief period he was a very intelligent young man who would adapt to any challenge. Chris was not one to be confined indoors. He enjoyed working with his hands and spent fifteen years doing installation of swimming pools, garage doors, and roofing. Having taken some automotive courses, he was in his element when helping friends get their automobiles back on the road - he was one of those mechanically inclined people. He especially loved to converse at length about cars - spanning the spectrum of the auto industry. His parents at home, Geraldine and Joseph E. Furey, Jr., his sister Tara Furey-McCartney and her husband, Jeffrey of Goshen, his sister Laura Furey of Mahwah, N.J., his brother Joseph E. Furey, III and his wife Gina of Palm Coast, Florida, his beloved two nieces, Bryana and Caitlin and two nephews Aaron and Alex McCartney, survive Christopher. His Aunt, Arlene Brown, Aunt and Uncle Christina & Mike Furey, Aunt Eileen Maloney and Aunt & Uncle Lori and Adrian Huff, also survives him. Christopher had an infectious smile that brightened the hearts of those with whom he was with. Many friends have expressed sincere sadness at the thought that they will not see, "Furey's smile" again. He often used that charismatic smile to melt his mother's heart and often get what he was requesting. His Mom will greatly miss their midnight chats, as they were both "night people." His Mom has been accustomed to late hours for years and Chris as well as he suffered from insomnia and depression. He was a young man whom was greatly loved by his family and friends, and who reciprocated that love in both words and actions. Our beloved son, you have left us here to continue our journey in life, but be assured that you will always be in our hearts and thoughts. May God's grace and love make that infectious smile a permanent one and be there to share with us, when we are taken home to join you.
