Jean Rettus

August 19, 1937 — March 3, 2017

Cherished daughter of the late Lewis and Jennie (Pavlik) Rettus, she was born in her beloved New York City on August 19, 1937. After graduating from Cathedral HS she spent a year in college at Mt St Vincent in Riverdale before deciding to join the Sisters of Charity. After graduating from Mount St. Vincent, she spent her first years in the convent as a first grade teacher in Manhattan. She later became a house mother to a group of boys at St Agatha's home in Nanuet, NY. Jean decided to leave the convent in 1968 and soon was employed by JPMORGAN in NYC. She retired in 1994 and thoroughly enjoyed her retirement taking care of children and volunteering for the benefit of animals. She moved to Tucson in December of 2001 where she continued volunteering with Greyhound Rescue and returned to New York in the spring of 2016 due to health concerns. She is survived by cousins Frank Rettus and his wife Josie, Michael Rettus, David Rettus and his wife Suzanne and their daughter Laura. Also surviving are her cousin and godchild Ann Rettus, her wife Ann Sissler and their son Adam who will all miss their beloved "Gma" Jean. Jean leaves behind many dear friends and family of the heart.
