October 27, 1933 — January 28, 2017

John Jack Collins Chester, NY October 27, 1933 - January 28, 2017 It is with great sadness that we the daughters of John "Jack" Collins announce his passing from this world on January 28, 2017. The son of the late Michael and Sarah Collins, Jack was born on October 27, 1933 in Manhattan, NY. Upon his mother's passing, Jack's father found a second love in Nora Loughran. Nora held a special place in Jack's heart and he loved her like a mother. She in turn loved her "Little Jackie." Jack was one of 10 children in the Collins family. Both as a child and throughout his life Jack enjoyed spending time with his family in Brooklyn and on the beach in Breezy Point and Cape May, NJ. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Korean War Veteran. Jack married Jean Donnelly in 1963 and together they had two daughters. In 1968 the Collins family made the move to Chester where Jack began to become an integral part of the community. After Jean passed away in 1981, Jack's strength, love and determination were the component in seeing his very young daughters into adulthood. Jack was an active member of St. Columba R.C. Parish in Chester. He was extremely active in the Chester Community where he served as Town Supervisor, Board Meeting and then Village Trustee. Jack belonged to multiple organizations in Orange County consisting of: Kiwanis International, Veterans of Foreign War, Orange County Democrats, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Joseph Duelk, Jr., Division 1, Monroe, NY, Knights of Columbus, Chester Park and Recreation and Chester Little League. He was the founding member of the Bear Mountain Detachment #1135 Marie Corps League. Jack leaves behind to live his legacy his beloved daughters, Colleen Collins at home, Theresa Collins Canfield and her husband Scott of Walden as well as his precious grand-daughter, Catherine. He may have been in Catherine's life only a short time, but bestowed on her his abundant pride on her every accomplishment, and leaves her with the knowledge of how to achieve a glorious life. Jack is further survived by his siblings Mary Barago, Joseph Collins, and Peggy Wade as well as several nieces and nephews. Aside from his wife, Jack was pre-deceased in death by his brother's Charlie, Michael, Jimmy and Bobby as well as his sister's Patricia and Eileen.
