Mary E. Dennehy Chester, New York Mary E. Dennehy (nee Brady), 77, of Chester, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25 at Elant Nursing Home in Goshen, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in 1936 on the family farm in Ireland, the daughter of John and Anne (Duffy) Brady. In October 1962, she immigrated to New York City where she was employed by Con Edison for six years. She met Edward Dennehy at her sister Peggy's wedding in 1965, and they married three years later. A retired FDNY Deputy Chief, Eddie has been a devoted husband for 45 years. Upon starting their family, they moved to Chester where Mary built her life as a homemaker and loving mother of six children. She was an active member of St. Columba Parish, where she sang in the church choir and directed a parent education group for many years. She will be remembered for her selflessness, compassion and quiet dignity. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her two brothers, Michael and James Brady. Survivors include her loving husband Edward of Chester, NY; son John and his wife Joan of New York, NY; son Michael of Chicago, IL; son James and his wife Jessica of Goshen, NY; daughter Maura and her husband Brian Cashin of Garden City, NY; daughter Deirdre and her husband Carl Hall of Boston, MA; and daughter Eileen of Chester, NY. Mary was the proud grandmother of twelve wonderful grandchildren: Jack, Julia and Liam Dennehy; Meghan, Kaitlyn, Ryan and Ella Dennehy; Maeve, Delia and Tierney Cashin; and Mary and Eamon Hall. She is also survived by nine siblings - Sean Brady, Rose Begley, Patrick Brady, Margaret Harrington, Kathleen Gilsenan, Bridget Dempsey, Josephine Brady, Eileen Walsh and Rita Feeney - and 35 nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, August 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 29 at 11 am at St. Columba R.C. Church, 29 High Street, Chester, NY 10918 with Fr. John Bonnici officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
