Longtime Rockland County resident, Robert James Candella passed away on October 19th, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was 73. Born to Mildred May and Frank Candella in June 1945, in New Jersey. He married Ingrid, his soulmate, on November 19th, 1966, though they were together for a total of 57 years. Robert served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1965 on the USS Essex. He worked for Tilcon for over 30 years and was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825. He always took great pride in his work. He was a devoted family man, who delighted in playing with his granddaughters. He had an excellent sense of humor, a big heart, and was the type of person to lend a hand any chance he could. A vegetarian for over 40 years, he loved animals, doted on his pets, and liked bird watching. He enjoyed nature and was an avid botanist. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all. Robert is survived by his wife Ingrid, his son Robert Frank Candella and his wife Suzanne, his daughter Heather Candella, his granddaughters Addison Grace and Alyssa Marie, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank Candella Jr. and Kenneth Candella. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc. located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to a local farm sanctuary, Dante Farm, which may be mailed to c/o Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc. 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950.
