Salvatore Anthony Zaccagnino, “Sal” of Middletown, New York, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was 75 years old.
Sal, son of the late Emilio and Ann Zaccagnino, was born in 1948.
He is survived by his wife Jean of 44 years; beloved daughter Kimberly Zaccagnino; son Bryan Zaccagnino and fiancé Julie Quinn; granddaughter Zoe Zaccagnino; brother Michael Zaccagnino and wife Marie; sister Angela Manco and husband Anthony; sister Yolanda Leavy and husband Bob; brother Ralph Zaccagnino; brother Dominick Zaccagnino and wife Lisa, numerous nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews and extended family. Sal was predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert Zaccagnino.
Sal graduated from Chester High School in 1967.
After high school, Sal was drafted into the United States Army Signal Corps. and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam Conflict.
When he returned from service, Sal attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Sal worked as a corporate tax manager for Orange & Rockland Utilities, which later became Con Edison Energy Company, for 37 years and retired in 2008.
Sal will be forever known for his sense of humor and clever wit. He was the family tax preparer, painter, wallpaper hanger, and tile layer. Sal had many talents and was always there to help anyone who needed something. He loved hunting, bowling, cruising, family parties, family vacations, and going to the casino.
Sal will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and he will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, located at 3 Hudson Street, Chester, New York, and a Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church located at 27 High Street, Chester, New York.
Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at White Plains Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the Spagnoli Family Cancer Center at Garnet Health Medical Center for the excellent care they provided to Sal. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made online to either Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or the Spagnoli Family Cancer Center at Garnet Health Medical Center.
