Virginia Helen Sheridan, a resident of Monroe for thirty five years, passed away on February 16, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York after a brief illness. She was ninety three years of age. Virginia was born in the Harlem Section of New York City to Thomas F. and Josephine Fitzgerald in the year 1922. She also worked for several years in the Monroe Free Library, after her retirement from the NY State Liquor Authority. Virginia was a devout parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish in Monroe. She volunteered for many years with Sr. Rose in the religious education office and also volunteered in the library at Bishop Dunn Memorial School. Virginia was pre-deceased by her husband Hugh F. Sheridan, her son Thomas, her brother Thomas and her sister Margaret. Virginia is survived by her son Hugh M. Sheridan and his wife, Nancy, of Pulaski, New York; her daughters, Marianne Sheridan of Monroe and Susan J. Trieste and her husband Bill of Harriman, New York. She is also survived by a special niece and goddaughter, Anne O'Rourke of Suffern, New York. Virginia's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and filled her golden years with joy. She was especially proud to bear the title "Great-Grandma Virginia." She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Williams, her husband Jason and their daughter Reilly of Pulaski, New York; Thomas E. Sheridan of Brewster, New York; Kate Gonzalez, her husband Carlos and their four children; Alaura, Houston, Noah and Charlie of Richland, New York; Meghan Sheridan, her husband Brian Mangan and their three children Brielle, Lauren and Grayson of Scotrun, Pennsylvania; Virginia R. We are deeply saddened by our mother's passing, "A golden heart stopped beating, a beautiful smile at rest, God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best." We give thanks to God for giving her to us and we find comfort and consolation in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of the Lord. She will be missed by her many relatives and friends.
