Brendan Connolly Rooney

Brendan Connolly Rooney, a 33-year resident of Chester, NY, passed away on January 6, 2026, at the age of 62.

The son of Felix (Rocky) and Mary Rooney, he was born on December 19, 1963, in Brooklyn, NY.

Brendan was a fiercely loving husband, a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a hero. A 9/11 responder, U.S. Army Veteran, NYPD Sergeant for 20 years, and member of the Sergeant Benevolent Association (SBA), he served with courage, honor, and selflessness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Brendan is survived by his loving wife of over 39 years, Dawn E. Rooney of Chester, NY; his daughter, Caitlin Rooney of Florida, NY; his son, Brendan Rooney (Keri Thorpe) of Sleepy Hollow, NY; his daughter, Bridget Rooney of Syracuse, NY; and his sister, Siobhan Rooney Finch (Patrick Finch). He is also survived by 11 nieces, 8 nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10 am at St. Columba R.C. Church, 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918.

Burial with military honors will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924, at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in honor of Brendan.
