Darrell Vincent Callahan

October 12, 1939 – June 16, 2026

Darrell was a loving and supportive family man. A devoted husband — first to his beloved Carol, to whom he was married from 1963 until her passing in 1989, and then to his cherished AnnMarie, his wife from 1995 until his passing in 2026.

He is survived by his wife, AnnMarie, and her children, Michael, Dennis, and Sean; his children, Janet, Sharon (Robert), and Kenneth (Tegan); and his grandchildren, Colin (Kelly), Carolanne, Kaden, and Kaya.

Darrell found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid gardener and generously shared from his plentiful harvests. Many family and friends received a zucchini or two, or five. He also loved to spend time fishing, although some of us could not enjoy that hobby with him as we were too talkative to make the best fishing companions and would scare away the fish.

One of Darrell’s most beloved family traditions was his Christmas Sausage Cake, made from a family recipe that we thought was lost. However, it recently resurfaced in the Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen's 20th Anniversary cookbook, which his granddaughter Carolanne uncovered.

A man of deep faith and service, Darrell dedicated much of his life to helping others. He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Pocatello Fire Department and was a devoted, longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church. Beginning in 1980, he faithfully volunteered with the Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen, giving countless hours in service to his community and exemplifying a life centered on compassion and generosity.

In his final years, Darrell faced dementia with quiet strength and dignity. He was cared for with compassion by the staff of his care facility, Valley View, and surrounded throughout by the unwavering love of AnnMarie and his family.

Darrell leaves behind a family who adored him, a community he helped strengthen, and a legacy of faith, service, generosity, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A service celebrating Darrell’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Middletown, NY.

Final Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Brendan T. Flynn, Thomas F. Flynn, and Megan Morales, Directors and Certified Cremation Specialists of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.
