Helen Newman

We are very sad to share that Helen Newman passed on January 12, 2021 at home in Sparkhill, New York. In her last days Helen was surrounded by family and friends. Helen will be remembered by her loving partner Norman Shaifer, sister-in-law Mary Fry, nieces Denyse Janusc-Jeffrey, Lezlie Fry and many friends. She is predeceased by her brother Jeffrey Fry. She will be very much missed by many great, and great-great nieces and nephews. Born in Rochford, Essex, England, Helen grew up during World War II where she cared for her ailing Mother Emily Fry and young Brother Jeffrey. In 1946 Helen moved to New York City, and began a very successful career as Head of Information for the British Tourist Authority. Helen stayed very active in her retirement and took on endeavor's such as National Trust. She also frequently travelled world wide for pleasure and for business. Helen purchased a Heritage Home on the beautiful Island of Nantucket which she shared with many family members and friends and created wonderful memories for all. Helen will be remembered as a very kind, generous and loving woman, always more concerned about everyone around her rather than herself. She was a fountain of positivity with a brilliant mind and a love for life. She was well liked and loved by everyone and will be missed by all.
