January 10, 1939 – August 31, 2025
Isabella Barry, affectionately known as Liz, of Washingtonville, NY, peacefully passed away at home on August 31, 2025, at the age of 86. A devoted sister, aunt, and community member, Liz was cherished by her family and friends.
Born to the late Michael and Isabella (Doyle) Lynch on January 10, 1939, in Rockaway, NY, Liz lived a life marked by resilience and independence.
She spent more than 30 years as a dedicated administrative assistant in the banking industry, known for her meticulous attention to detail and warm personality. After relocating to Washingtonville 20 years ago, she became a faithful member of Echo Grace Community Church. Liz demonstrated her commitment to her faith by volunteering in the church's program to provide respite for parents of developmentally delayed children. Her well-used prayer books and Bibles were a testament to her steadfast devotion.
Liz was an active participant in the Chester Senior Center, participating in their holiday parties, trips, and other activities. An avid reader, she was a familiar face at the Moffat Library, always eager for the latest murder mystery or thriller.
Liz was known for her impeccable style, which reflected her vibrant personality and attention to detail. Throughout her life, she took great care in her appearance, believing that dressing well was an extension of her self-respect and confidence. Her friends and family often marveled at how she effortlessly coordinated her outfits with stylish accessories, recognizing her talent to create ensembles that were both elegant and unique.
She loved to be part of family celebrations and during them willingly told stories about growing up at the beach and the antics of her mischievous brothers who often hid from her when she was supposed to be caring for them.
Liz took immense pride in her nieces, nephews, and particularly her grand-nieces and grand-nephews, delighting in their achievements.
Liz is survived by her son, Michael Barry; sister-in-law, Irene Lynch; and a large, loving family including her nieces and nephews and their spouses: Elizabeth Melo, Margaret Mullahy, Michael Lynch, Patricia Lynch, Loretta Ralston, Walter Lynch, Michael Lynch, Dennis Lynch, Sean Lynch, Francis Lynch, John Lynch, James Lynch, and their children.
