James Pierson

James Raymond Pierson, Sr. of Highland Mills, New York passed away on July 29, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. He was 83 years old. James was a resident of Highland Mills, New York for 55 years. James was born in NYC to the late Edwin Pierson II and Anna. James was predeceased by the love of his life his wife Barbara, and the family dog Maggie May. He was also predeceased by his brother Edwin Pierson III. He served in the Army and the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. James worked for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company for 45 years before retiring. He also worked for the Monroe-Woodbury School District as a custodian after retiring from the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. James loved spending time with his family, dogs, and friends. He enjoyed going out on Friday night with his friends to his favorite spots Mario's & Savory Grill to have a Dewers and water. He loved family get togethers. James loved playing the lottery, doing scratch-offs, and the crossword puzzle in the paper. James was an avid New York Yankees, Giants, Rangers, and Knicks fan. He would call them knuckleheads if they did something wrong. James was a kind, loving, caring, hardworking, supportive, husband, father, grandfather (poppie), and friend. Even towards the end, he kept his sense of humor. He was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. James is survived by his son James R. Pierson, Jr. of Hawaii, his daughter Barbara-Ann Pierson, grandchildren Elizabeth, Michael, and Ryan all of Highland Mills. Also his granddogs Fionia, Petunia, and Luna. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joan Sweet of LBI and Glenda Devera of Hawaii- daughter from the heart, and a niece and nephew. The family has selected to have a private service with Cremation at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc. There will be a Life Celebration held at a later date.
