Jane Galvin

Jane Rita Galvin, of Chester, NY passed away on December 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of John and Julia McGann, Jane was born on August 9, 1941, in the Bronx, NY. The widow of Patrick Galvin, Jane is survived by her five children: Patricia Kelly (Thomas), Julie Silsby (Charles), Nancy Sorge (Mark), Maryellen Corin (Clive) and Michael (Jeanne). Jane was blessed to be the proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren: Kristen, Jillian, Daniel, Meaghan, Elizabeth, Mark, Christopher, Madeline, Julia, Patrick, Matthew, Michael, Allison, Thomas, and John. In August of this year Jane became a great grandmother when Carson Daniel was born.

Jane is also survived by her sister and best friend Ann Harrington whom she loved dearly. They have been inseparable since they were little girls.

Jane was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Patrick, her sister Helen and her brothers John and William.

In addition to being the best Mom in the world, Jane worked for 25 years at NYU School of Medicine, Lanza Laboratories in Sterling Forest, Tuxedo, NY. Jane loved to travel, and her work at NYU provided many opportunities including London, Prague, Mexico City, and India.

After she retired in 2005, Jane and Pat purchased a second home in North Myrtle Beach, SC which became the location of countless memorable family beach vacations. Jane loved the beach and her family and there was nothing she treasured more than those times together.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 during the hours of 5 to 8PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc, located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Columba Church, located at 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918. Interment will follow at St. Columba Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warwick Humane Society in honor of Jane’s beloved puppies, Stubby, Sammy and Casey Galvin.
