JOHN P. DRENNAN, 79

Bronx Native, U.S. Navy Veteran, Devoted Family Man

March 7, 1946 – November 18, 2025

John P. Drennan, 79, of New York, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. Born in the Bronx on March 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Kathleen Drennan and the second oldest of four brothers. He was predeceased by his brother, Bob Drennan; Robert’s wife, Peggy; and his sister-in-law, Sara Drennan.

John enlisted in the United States Navy as a teenager and later returned to the New York area, where he built a long and steady career with several companies. Known for his reliability, kindness, and warm spirit, he formed many lifelong friendships throughout his professional life.

A devoted New York Mets fan, John was also passionate about Irish hurling and Gaelic football, especially the Kilkenny and Castlecomer teams. Deeply connected to his Irish heritage, he traveled to Ireland many times to visit family and to maintain the close ties between the Irish and American branches of the Drennan/Moran family—an effort that remains his lasting legacy.

John is survived by his brothers, Jim Drennan and his wife, Jeanette, and E.J. Drennan; his nephews, Tony Drennan and his wife, Gail, and Eddie Drennan; his great-nephew, Nolan Drennan; and his great-niece, Emily Drennan.

He is also survived by the children of his late brother Bob and Robert’s late wife, Peggy—Patsy, Dick, Marylou, Bobby, Margie, Joey, Kevin, and Tommy—and by all of their families, including the many great-nieces and great-nephews who brought him joy.

He will be remembered as a gentle and generous soul whose warmth touched all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 10 am at St. Columba R.C Church, 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918.
