Karen Thresh Wolfson, 71, of Walden, NY, passed away on October 17, 2026. She was born in Montreal, Quebec. She was predeceased by her mother, Audrey Thresh, in 2016; her father, William Thresh, in 2022; and her beloved husband, Steven J. Wolfson, in 2024. She is survived by her daughter, Gineane Haberlin; her grandchildren, Cam and Shayne; her sisters, Janet Garofalow and her husband, Ritch, and Debbie Hampton and her husband, Warren; her brother, Blair Thresh; and the many nephews, nieces and cousins who loved her right back.

The greatest love of Karen's life was her marriage to Steven. Being his wife was the role she cherished most, and the family takes comfort knowing they are together again.

Christmas was her season. Over the years Karen gathered a collection of antique ornaments and snowmen, and every single one came with a story: where she found it, who gave it to her, which tree it first hung on. If you asked about one, you'd better have had time to hear it.

Every December her kitchen turned into a full cookie operation. Boxes went out by mail and by hand to family, friends and neighbors, and for a lot of people, the holidays officially started when Karen's cookies showed up at the door. She was just as famous for her chocolate pie, which she made especially for her nephews.

When she wasn't baking, you'd usually find her with a cross stitch project in her lap. And she never met a dog she didn't love.

Her faith and the United Methodist Church in Walden meant a great deal to her.

She loved her family fiercely. She showed it in stitches, in stories and in tins of cookies, and we felt it every time.

A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 11am to 2pm at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the United Methodist Church in Walden, Pets Alive or the American Liver Foundation.
