Laura Nicole Calverley, 33, passed away Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, New York.
Laura graduated from Liberty High School in Brentwood, California, and enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduation in 2008 as part of the 1st Marine Division Band.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps in 2012, Laura strived to progress in her education, attending classes at Los Medanos College and Diablo Valley College in California before attending and graduating from UC Davis, California, in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering. After graduation, Laura began her career working as a Software Development Engineer at Yahoo Advertising in Sunnyvale, California, before transferring to New York.
Laura was in a long-term and cherished relationship with Joshua Rodriguez. Prior to her impassioned relationship with Joshua, she was briefly married and divorced Trenton Jenz Phippen (predeceased).
She is survived by parents Robert (Jenny) Calverley and Sylvia (Tim) Seltzer-Raridan, siblings Stephanie Calverley and Joshua Calverley, bonus siblings Alexys Brock, Jason (Brittany) Anstett, April Jones, River (Kyle) Boen, and many more who lovingly knew her as “Aunti,” “Daughter”, “Sis”, and “friend”. Laura had uncounted interests and was always up for a challenge, adventure, or new experience. Her love of travel and experiences was only surpassed by her love of people. She reconnected with childhood friends from her youth in Connecticut, Missouri, and Indiana and started new friendships with countless people worldwide.
She had the ability to make anyone feel comfortable, welcomed, loved, and seen. Laura never wanted to be the center of attention and preferred to see others in the limelight, but was always quick to crack a joke, poke fun, or give a smile and embrace to anyone she was around. She was a Marine, Engineer, and musician, but these did not define her. It was her love of friendship that defined her, now and forever.
As a greatly loved, respected, and cherished soul, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We miss her already!
