LAWRENCE P. WOOLWICH May 21, 1929 - January 16, 2018 Newburgh, NY Lawrence (Larry) P. Woolwich of Newburgh, NY died on January 16, 2018, at Elant of Newburgh (Saphhire). Larry was born to Rose and Albert Woolwich, on May 21, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY. He was 88 years of age. Lawrence, who liked to be called "Larry", has a sister, Elaine, who lives in New Mexico, along with his two nephews, Michael and Richard. Larry was a Sergeant in the Air Force during World War II, and the Korean War. During his civilian employment years, he was a Licensed Civil Engineer, who worked in the Construction Industry. Larry spent time living in Brooklyn, Loch Sheldrake, Middletown and Newburgh. He loved to dance, especially the Mambo. Larry was a smart dresser, and at one point, had over 60 pairs of shoes. When asked what advice he would give young people today he said, "Don't get married too young." When asked what is the secret to a long life Larry replied: "A sense of humor." Larry's favorite memory was of his German Shepherd dog, Max. Larry leaves behind Bernard, and Marge Mercier, good friends and caregivers. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff of Elant of Newburgh, 2E, for the care given. Further, we would like to thank Dr. J, and all the wonderful nurses, Diane Myers, aides and therapist on 2 East, at Elant Meadow Hill/Sapphire Nursing Home; you all went over and above in your love and dedication. Graveside Service with Military Honors, will take place on Friday, January 19, 2018, at 12 p.m. at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, located at 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas F. Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950.
