Lori Marie Schmitt, 62, of Monroe New York, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026 at 5:00 AM after a long and courageous fight with cancer. She was born on July 20, 1963 in Westwood, New Jersey, the beloved daughter of the late John and Madeline Sloat.
Lori was a woman known for her strength, warmth, and deep love for her family. Throughout her life, she faced challenges with resilience and courage, especially during her battle with cancer. Even in difficult times, Lori remained devoted to the people she loved most and continued to bring comfort, laughter, and support to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Jr. and Richard Sloat. She is survived by her sister Bonnie and brother Ronald Sloat. Lori also leaves behind her cherished nieces Tabitha and Brittany, and her nephew Dustin, who will always remember her kindness and the special place she held in their lives.
Lori is survived by her former husband and long time friend, Robert Schmitt.
Her greatest pride and joy were her daughters, who were the center of her world. She leaves behind her beloved daughters: Josette Santiago and her significant other John Savini, Chrissy Schmitt, and Nicole Schmitt and her fiancé Richie Dominguez. Lori’s love for her daughters was unwavering, and she devoted her life to supporting them, guiding them, and celebrating every moment of their lives. The bond she shared with them was one of unconditional love, strength, and deep connection that will continue to live on in their hearts forever.
Nothing brought Lori more happiness than being a Mema. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she devoted so much of her heart and time to them. She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Zachary, Chase, Aubrey, Beckham, Zoe, Julian, Zia, and Jazmine. Lori adored each of them beyond words. Whether it was sharing laughter, offering comfort, or simply spending time together, she made every grandchild feel deeply loved and incredibly special. The memories they created with her will forever remain a guiding light in their lives, and her love will continue to surround them always.
Lori will be remembered for her caring heart, her strength, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to those around her. Though she is no longer physically with us, the love she shared and the memories she created will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Lori’s honor on April 19, 2026, at the American Legion, located at 532 Lakes Road, Monroe, NY 10950, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Lori’s life, share memories, and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Lori’s spirit, love, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
