Lucille Courtney

Lucille Patricia Courtney (maiden name Coleman), age 78, died on December 3, 2025, at Hebrew Home Rehab in Bronx, NY.

Lucile was born on April 6, 1947, in the Bronx, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Emma Coleman, and her sisters Rosemary Hagerty, Bernadette Scanlon, and Elizabeth Benz. She is survived by her dear sister Eileen Engleberg.

Lucille will be lovingly remembered by her nephews and nieces, Robert Scanlon, John Scanlon, Laura Glowacki, Susan McNamee, Michael Hagerty, Lisa Morales, Christina Bufalini, and Erwin Benz.

Lucille graduated from St. Catharine Academy in 1965 and continued her education, earning a BA at Mercy College in 1969 and an MS at Fordham University in 1973.

Lucille worked as a teacher in the NYC Catholic School System, including Good Shepherd, Transfiguration, and Mt Carmel Schools.

She attained certification in Information Management and held positions at Manhattanville College, Columbia University, and Volvo Finance in the area of Bibliographics and Records Supervisor.

Throughout the years, Lucille made an impact wherever she went. She was genuinely interested in everyone she met, and if you were lucky enough to have a conversation with her, you’d always remember it.

She will be remembered for her kind wisdom, provided with bright eyes and a smile.

Lucille was loving, caring, and devoted to her sisters and will be cherished by her surviving Sister, Eileen, and nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Holy Name of Jesus R.C. Church, located at 45 Highland Avenue, Otisville, New York 10963 (845) 386-1320 at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery, located on the church grounds.

The family has entrusted the care of Lucille to Brendan & Thomas Flynn and the Staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers.
