Margaret (Peggy) Engel – a longtime resident of Cortlandt Manor, New York, and Bonita Springs, FL – passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. She was 79 years old.

Born on January 3, 1947, in the Bronx, Margaret was a proud graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Class of 1964. Throughout her life, she embraced many roles with dedication – serving others as a nurse, guiding families as a travel agent, and working as the manager at a realtor’s office, where her professionalism, organization, and attention to detail made her both respected and appreciated. In every chapter of her life, Margaret was known for her strong work ethic, gracious nature, warmth, and genuine concern for those around her.

Margaret had a deep love for life’s joys. She loved to travel and explore new places, always ready for the next adventure, and she truly enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Her home was always welcoming, filled with beautifully decorated spaces, thoughtful details, and lively gatherings. She had a special eye for shopping and decorating, always finding the perfect piece to make a house feel like a home. Whether browsing boutiques or preparing for a holiday celebration, she found happiness in creating beauty around her. She also deeply loved her pets – especially her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – who brought her endless comfort and companionship over the years.

Above all else, Margaret was devoted to her family. She deeply loved her girls and was endlessly proud of her grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every holiday, celebration, and ordinary moment spent together. She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Engel, of Peekskill, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and cherished memories. She is also survived by her daughters, Kristin (Arty), Suzanne (Brian), Bridget (Scott), Claire, and Margaret (Joe); her treasured grandchildren, Amanda, Tommy, Ashley, Brian, Austin, Victoria, Maggie, Shane, and Trevor; and her adored great-grandchildren, Miles, Avianna, Grayson, Thomas, and Connor. She is further survived by her brother, Basil Boland.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving parents, Basil and Marie Boland, and by her daughter, Denise.
