Margaret V. Stannard

Margaret V. Stannard (AKA Greta) lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on August 18, 2025, at the age of 85. 

Born in Lisagoan, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, Ireland, to Jim and Maggie McGivney, she was the seventh of 13 children.

 After moving to America in 1964, she raised her four children in the Bronx. When her husband passed away in 1996, she relocated to Middletown, NY. She was part of a senior community where she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and going out to eat. 

In 2023, she moved to Monroe, NY, to be closer to her family. She loved watching game shows and Judge Judy. When there was nothing on TV, she listened to Irish and country music, with "One Day at a Time" being her favorite song. A proud Irish woman—strong, independent, and resilient—she will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Rest in Peace, Ma. 

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; her son, Thomas Quinn; and her great-granddaughter, 9-month-old Raegan Quinn McCutchan. 

She is survived by her loving children: Patrick Quinn and his wife, Sheila; Margaret Doyle and her husband, Jim; and Noeleen Cohn and her husband, George. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Her siblings, Una McEvoy, Michael McGivney (Marie), Sheila Davis, Rose Biesty (Pat), Dyna Geraghty (Dominick), Alice McEnaney, Tommy McGivney (Kathleen), James McGivney (Jenny), and Rita McElwain (Vick), also survive her.

 She was predeceased by her siblings Mary Eliason (Leslie), Phyllis Perusse (Ed), and Pat McGivney (Nan), as well as her brothers-in-law Michael McEvoy, Noel Davis, and Tommy McEnaney. 

The family entrusted Margaret's care to the Flynn family and staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc. 

Cremation care was provided under the direct supervision of Brendan Flynn at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, NY. 

Per Margaret's wishes, there will be no visitation. A private burial will take place on September 13, 2025.
