Margarete F. Obermeier

Margarete F. Obermeier, a 55-year resident of Salisbury Mills, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Valley View Nursing Center.

She was 99 years old. She was born in Munich, Germany, on September 1, 1924, the daughter of Ludwig and Florigne Voitz.

Margarete was predeceased by her husband, Rudolf G. Obermeier.

Margarete was a past member of the “Bowling Time” bowling league in New Windsor.

She was also a former Treasurer of the Windsor Hill Beach Association. Her loved ones describe her as remarkable, resilient, kind, compassionate, and highly intelligent.

She was a devoted Mother to Irene Obermeier-Taylor (Richard McHugh) of Salisbury Mills, NY.

She is survived by her daughter Irene Obermeier-Taylor, her life partner Richard McHugh of Salisbury Mills, New York, and niece and nephew Steve (Chris) Bennett of Eagle, Idaho. Leslye (Tom) Wing of Yoncalla, Oregon, Cliff Bennett of Victorville, California, and many cousins also survive Margarete.

There will be no public visitation; therefore, In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.

Cremation care will be provided by Brendan & Thomas Flynn at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, N.Y.

Funeral care is entrusted to the Flynn Family and Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Center staff.
