 Michael John Murphy passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Michael was the devoted husband of Nancy Murphy, his beloved wife of 45 years, whom he married on May 16, 1981. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering support. He was a proud and loving father to Michael, Lauren, and Kevin Murphy (wife Allison), and an adoring PopPop to his cherished grandchildren, Shay, Liam, and Grayson. Being "Pop Pop" brought him immense joy, and some of his happiest moments were those spent laughing, playing, and making memories with his grandchildren.

Michael found great happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time at the racetrack with his horses, where he enjoyed the excitement and camaraderie the sport brought; he was a talented painter, and he also found peace in the outdoors while hiking and camping.

 Above all else, Michael will be remembered for his deep love for his family. His kindness, strength, gentle spirit, and quiet generosity touched everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, treasured memories, and a family who will carry his spirit with them always. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. 

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 12 pm at St. Columba R.C. Church, 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918.

The Family entrusted Michael's care to the Flynn family and staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.
