Pamela Kay Williams, affectionately known to friends as “Pam”, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 29th, 2025, at the age of 82.
She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Pat Williams.
She will forever be remembered by her two children, Leyla and Sylvia, her four grandchildren, Aubrey, Everly, Grover, and Homer, along with other relatives and close friends.
To all who knew her, Pam was a kind soul who found joy in the simple things like a phone conversation, coffee with a friend, reading the newspaper or a Danielle Steele novel, silly jokes, doing jumble puzzles, enjoying a delicious meal or a good Bloody Mary, watching a movie or the shopping network, creating or listening to music, or spending time with family, friends and neighbors.
She was born in Walters, Oklahoma, on August 15th, 1943, to Lyle and Verla Newman. With her dad as a Minister of Disciples of Christ church, she moved around quite a bit with her family, living in Iowa, Indiana, West Virginia, and then back to Indiana, where she graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1961. She got her Bachelor's Degree in English from Transylvania University in 1965 (Lexington, Kentucky) and studied for her Master’s Degree at Canisius College (Buffalo, NY). She taught English for two years, teaching part of the year in Kenmore, NY, and one year in Henrietta, NY.
In 1967, she moved to NYC (Manhattan), where she lived for 10 years and worked as a secretary at Columbia University, Teacher's College, and as an administrative assistant at The National Council of Churches and Arthur Young Accounting Firm. She was also a talented musician, and while in Manhattan, she joined the Village Light Opera Group and sang and performed in many Gilbert and Sullivan shows, even performing in Carnegie Hall.
Around 1977, she moved upstate, living in Warwick and Florida, NY, where she met many friends and her future husband, Pat. Before long, Pat and Pam started a family and moved to Unionville, NY, which she called home for nearly four decades. Pam used her talents playing the organ and as the choir director at the Unionville Presbyterian Church every Sunday for well over thirty years.
She was proud and grateful to have had many close friends and neighbors nearby during her final years, along with her loving daughters and cherished grandchildren. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A private memorial gathering will be held to honor Pam’s life.
The family entrusted Pamela's care to the Flynn family and staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Center.
Cremation care was provided under the direct supervision of Brendan Flynn at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, NY.
