Philip Scofield Simms

Philip Scofield Simms was carried in the arms of Jesus to his heavenly home on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the age of 79.
Loving son of Herbert and Dorothy (Scofield) Simms, he was born at the Goshen Hospital on June 3, 1944.
He graduated from Warwick Valley High School and Nichols College in Dudley, MA, earning a BA in Parks and Business Administration.
He was the Director of Fiscal Management for the Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation for nearly forty years.
He was a member of the O&W Society and a Railroad expert on all kinds of RR memorabilia and history, especially the Lehigh and Hudson River Railway Co.
He helped edit books and write articles for many publications.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer, devoted and caring daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Dave Zirilli, and four beloved grandchildren, Anna (Nicky) Limpaiboon of Bangkok, Thailand, Katie (Richard) Davis, of Wellsville, NY, Ethan, and Ryan.
He was church grandpa to all of the children of Still Waters Church, the home church he attended with his family.
Regarding eating desserts, his favorite sayings were "I'll have one of each" and "Life is short; eat dessert first." He is remembered for his infectious laughter, his impressions of Stan Laurel, and his wonderful sense of humor.
He loved Jesus and served Him all his life. He was a man of integrity, honesty and was highly loved and respected by all.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Donations in His memory may be given to HEARTS, a ministry of Modena Memorial Methodist Church, PO Box 577 Modena NY 12548, or your favorite charity.
A memorial celebration will be held at Still Waters Church at a date to be set.
Brendan and Thomas Flynn provided cremation care at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, NY.
