Robert (Bob) George Klein, a resident for over 55 years of New Windsor, NY, died on April 11, 2026, at the Bronx VA Hospital at the age of 82.
The son of Stephen Klein and Fanny (Meisels) Klein, he was born on June 26, 1943, in the Bronx, NY, and served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was a proud member of the Air Commanders Association, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, who volunteered at the VA Hospital in Castle Point and with the Alzheimer's Association. He was also a proud member of Gamblers Anonymous who celebrated his 46th year of abstinence in the program earlier this month.
Bob was predeceased in death by his wife of 41 years Harriet (Frank) Klein, and is survived by his three sons Adam Klein (and his wife Karen (Ruzic) Klein) of Chicago, IL, Eric Klein (and his wife Jennifer (Desormier) Klein) of Wappingers Falls, NY and Jeffrey Klein (and his fiancé Rachel Horvitz) of Austin, TX and his four grandchildren Lara, Lexi, Joshua and Zachary Klein. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Klein.
Bob was a devoted husband who truly took his marriage vows of "in sickness and in health" to heart, a loving father and grandfather whose wit and appreciation of others will live on through his family, a proud military veteran who loved his country, and a mentor and inspiration to many of his friends.
From Bob: To all those who were part of my life, including among my greatest gifts, my three sons and their families, and to all those who serve, and those veterans who have served, to protect our country, I thank you.
